Frequently Asked Questions

Explore the answers to your questions.

How did AT HOME start?

AT HOME was started in March 2020, following the national COVID-19 recommendations to avoid gathering in groups. Two social work conferences that had been scheduled for March were canceled or rescheduled, affecting many students and professionals who were planning to attend them. AT HOME was originally conceived as an opportunity for social workers to continue learning while practicing social distancing. However, AT HOME has always been open to people from all backgrounds, as a barrier-free learning opportunity.

How do you find speakers and topics for AT HOME?

Speakers are chosen based on their knowledge and experience with various topics that are of interest to attendees, with a focus on presenters who address vulnerable communities. The 6-8 presenters each month are an intentional mix of traditional academics, along with organic intellectuals. Topics have ranged from Infant Mental Health, to the Science of Hope, to Indigenous Values, to Supporting Refugees. Most of the speakers are local to Tulsa, Oklahoma, but AT HOME would love to expand to include presentations from across the country — and even the world!   If you have an idea for a topic or a presenter, please contact Erika at erika@athomeconference.org

How long is AT HOME?

AT HOME runs about 4 hours over Zoom. Each presenter has 25 minutes to discuss their topic, and then fields questions from the audience. Some speakers have PowerPoints or other documents, which are available on the website afterwards. AT HOME is also available on YouTube, within a few weeks of the event.

How do I sign up?

To get signed up, just head over to registration page. Once you are registered you will receive an email confirmation and login information for the video conference.

Help! I can't get into the AT HOME ZOOM meeting!

Zoom security requires all attendees to have a Zoom account in order to attend. Once you have a Zoom account, and have registered for AT HOME, you will receive a calendar invitation with the room number and passcode. If you have any difficulties, contact Erika at erika@athomeconference.org

With What Organization is AT HOME Affiliated?

AT HOME is not affiliated with any organization, although the Zoom room is provided by the University of Oklahoma, who has also provided CEU credits for the April 2020 and May 2020 AT HOME.

How much does attending cost?

AT HOME is totally free for attendees. AT HOME is currently in the process of becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, in order to secure grants in the future and keep AT HOME free for all attendees. Currently AT HOME is funded privately.

How do I get CEU for attending AT HOME?

Following the conference, all attendees are sent a short evaluation form. Once that is completed, each individual will receive their CEU confirmation form. Please note, the process takes approximately a week after the conference.
